Spotify Premium Prices Set to Rise in the UK

Heads up, Spotify fans in the UK! Your subscription is about to get a bit pricier come May.

So, here’s the lowdown: Spotify is bumping up the cost of its Premium subscriptions, and they’re not shy about letting their users know. They’ve started sending out emails to give everyone a heads up.

For Premium Individual users, the monthly fee will go up from £10.99 to £11.99, which works out to a 9% increase. And if you’re on a Premium Family plan, get ready to shell out £19.99 instead of £17.99 each month.

Now, that might not sound like much, but it adds up to an extra £12 a year for individuals and a bit more for families.

Why the price hike, you ask? Well, apparently, Spotify has been splashing the cash on things like audiobooks and video learning courses. They’re trying to compete with the likes of Amazon’s Audible and offer more than just music.

There’s talk of a new basic subscription without audiobooks at the original price, but nothing’s confirmed yet. And there’s even whispers of a super-premium tier with higher-quality audio.

In their email to customers, Spotify said they’re upping the price to keep improving their service and bring users the best experience possible.

This isn’t the first time Spotify has raised prices in the UK, and it’s all part of their plan to turn a profit after years of losses.
